Hi, Iām Calvin.
If you had asked me what I wanted as a kid, the answer was always the same: more animals.
I was especially obsessed with cows. Every family drive turned into me begging my parents to pull over so I could stand on the side of the road and watch them. I don't think I ever imagined that one day I'd look out my own window and see them in my own backyard.
In 2021, my partner and I moved to Newtonville, Ontario, with our two kids to build the life we'd always hoped for - a little more space, a little more fresh air, and a place where our family (and our growing collection of animals!) could thrive.
Mini Cow Canada was born from that dream.
What is Mini Cow Canada?
Our farm is home to our miniature Highland cattle, along with Valley Doll sheep, Tibetan yaks, Kunekune pigs, Silkie chickens, a peacock, a turkey, and a few other furry and feathered personalities. Every animal has a name, a story, and a special place in our family.
One of the things that makes our farm so special is that it's truly a family effort. We live in a multi-generational home, and we couldn't do any of this without our moms here with us.
Although we both work full-time in corporate careers during the week, every spare moment is spent on the farm. It's a labour of love, and one we're incredibly grateful for. Every new calf, every visitor, and every milestone reminds us why we started this journey in the first place.
Our dream is simple: to raise healthy, well-loved miniature cattle, welcome people to experience the joy of farm life, and help more Canadians fall in love with mini cows just like we did.
I hope that decades from now, even in retirement, I'll still be walking the pastures, welcoming visitors through our gates, and introducing people to the newest little calves.
